Spot Light
A real spotlight. Bright where it lands, dark everywhere else.
Shines a spotlight on the layer. Outside the light it goes dark; inside is lit. Round looks like light falling onto the layer from a lamp hung in front of it: a circle when aimed straight on, stretching into an egg shape when aimed away from the lamp. Beam (Side View) is the cone of light seen from the side, glowing in haze. Colors deepen where light turns to shadow, and a gobo (window, blinds, leaves, breakup, or any layer) casts a shadow pattern into the light. Stack several Spot Lights on the same layer and they add together, like lighting one room with several lights.

Tips
- Keyframe Spot Position and the light sweeps around as if searching the stage. Leave Lamp Position fixed.
- Gobo set to Blinds with Gobo Softness around 20% gives film-noir light through blinds.
- Light Only with the Add blend mode lets you layer just the light over other layers.
